Welcome to my new site!

It is here that I will introduce you to the basics of couponing. It is up to you whether you want to go extreme or just everyday couponing.  To start of I will discuss the couponing lingo that will allow you to understand the information that you will need to know to become a better couponer.

Coupon Lingo:

The inserts that come in the Sunday papers are as follows:
  • Smart Source (SS)
  • Proctor & Gamble (P&G)
  • Red Plum (RP)


    When I refer to an insert I abbreviate it as shown above.
    Other coupon lingo:
    B1G1, BOGO, B1G1F- Buy one get one free
    $/$$-Dollars off when you buy XX dollars
    .50/1 - Fifty cents off one items
    .50/3 - Fifty cents off three items
    Blinkie- Coupon dispensed near product, in the store (usually from a “blinking” red box)
    eCoupon - Found on the Internet but different because it is uploaded to a card
    FAR-Free After Rebate
    MIR - Mail in Rebate
    MFR or MQ - Manufacturer's coupon
    FLIP - Food Lion Internet Printable
    IVC -Instant Value Coupon (Walgreens store coupon, found in Walgreens Easy Saver Catalog and on in store tearpads)
    +Up - Rite Aid Plus Up Reward
    SCR- Single Check Rebate (rebate system at Rite Aid)
    Catalina- This coupon prints out in a little white machine beside the register.
    ECB- Refers to CVS Pharmacy’s “Extra Care Bucks”
    RR- Walgreen’s coupons that you can use on your next purchase
    Peelies- Sticky coupons you can peel off of products

    Other Common Phrases:
    DND- Coupon states DO NOT DOUBLE
    OOP- Out of Pocket
    Regional- Coupon value only distributed at a certain time
    WYB-  When you buy
    YMMV- Your Mileage May Vary (i.e, you may find the item priced differently or may not work the same for you)
    NED- No Experation Date
    SASE- Self Addressed Stamped Envelope
    CRT- Cash Register Tape (coupon that prints on receipt)
    UPC - Universal Product Code (bar code on the product)
    WSL- While supplies last
    BTFE- Box Tops for Education
